What do you think of when you hear the word “toxin?”

Raw sewage?

A nuclear melt down like Fukushima?

But what about a bowl of cereal? How about a non-organic strawberry or that household cleaner under your sink? Not the first things you thought of?

This is exactly why the issue of these top three toxins is so dangerous in relation to autoimmune diseases.

We’re going to look at the top three toxins which have been associated with autoimmune diseases and I guarantee that most if not all three of these are found in your kitchen right now.

About Me Block-sm

What Causes Autoimmunity?

One reoccurring theme you see over and over again in the scientific literature about autoimmune diseases is that it is caused by the combination of genetics and environmental toxins. See it for yourself:

Genetic and epigenetic factors interacting with the environment over time are the main causes of complex diseases such as autoimmune diseases.” 1

“It's likely that lupus results from a combination of your genetics and your environment.” - The Mayo Clinic 2

“Type 1 (Diabetes) is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic susceptibility and environmental factors…” - The Mayo Clinic 3

This is what you find repeated in so many studies. So a logical question would be what are these “environmental factors” causing autoimmune diseases and where are they found? The surprising answer is that many of them are found in your kitchen! Let’s start with the toxin coming in the number three spot, GMOs.

Autoimmune Toxin #3 - GMOs

What are GMOs?

GMOs which stands for “Genetically Modified Organisms” are plants that have had their DNA artificially modified at a genetic level. This artificial modification involves combining the DNA of plants with animal, bacteria, and viruses creating organisms that do not occur in nature or by normal crossbreeding methods. The purpose of this genetic modification is to enable the plants to withstand deadly doses of herbicides and pesticides.

Is There A Link With GMOs and Autoimmune Diseases?

There is growing evidence showing a link between GMOs and a lot of serious health problems, many of which are connected with autoimmune diseases. GMOs have two factors that make them dangerous. The first is that GMOs are drenched in a poisonous chemical called glyphosate, and second is the genetic manipulation of the plant itself.

Glyphosate

Researches have found, “clear evidence that glyphosate disrupts gut bacteria.”4 Why is this important? A disrupted gut bacteria has been found, in every autoimmune disease in which its presence has been investigated. 5

And this disruption in gut bacteria is also directly linked to other health conditions such as:

“gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, autism, infertility, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.” 6

Did you notice that many of these health issues are also very common in autoimmunity patients?

Science brings out yet another link between glyphosate’s and autoimmune diseases in how it prevents protein digestion. Notice…

“glyphosate may interfere with the breakdown of complex proteins in the human stomach, leaving larger fragments of wheat in the human gut that will then trigger an autoimmune response…" 7

The body doesn't recognize the partially digested proteins and attacks them which in turn leads to the immune system attacking other parts of the body that look chemically similar.

Here is a list of more health issues associated with glyphosate:

  • Is a probable cancer causing carcinogen 8
  • Depletes tryptophan leading to insomnia, and depression 9
  • Turns normal food allergic 10
  • Disrupts production of bile acids leading to fat malabsorption 11
  • Systemic inflammation due to destruction of gut lining 12
  • Inhibits specific enzymes that play important role in detoxification 13
  • Enhances the damaging effects of other toxins 14
  • Immobilizes nutrients leading to mineral deficiencies 15
  • Liver, and kidney disease (in animal studies) 16

While looking at this list consider that GMO foods have the highest concentration of glyphosate.

Agent Orange

It’s also interesting to note that glyphosate was also a major ingredient used in the chemical warfare weapon Agent Orange during the Vietnam war. I actually have an distant cousin who died due to agent orange exposure from fighting in Vietnam.

So we’re using it for chemical warfare in the 60’s and then were dousing our food with it in the 90’s. Sound smart?

Causes Leaky Gut

Glyphosate damages the delicate walls of the small intestine causing what’s known as “leaky gut.” The intestinal wall is lined with a protective layer that absorbs nutrients but keeps out harmful substances from getting into the blood stream.

When leaky gut occurs it causes openings between the cells that line the gut wall and particles in the digestive tract both good and bad enter the bloodstream which trigger autoimmune and allergic reactions.

Leaky gut is one of the main steps in the development of autoimmune diseases and has been found every time its presence was investigated in autoimmune patients. 17

Here are frames of a video showing an actual lab experiment in which glyphosate degraded the tight junctions cells of the small intestine in just 16 minutes!

Immunofluorescence is making visible the cell tight junctions and nucleus. The green hi-lighted sections are showing the tight junction walls between small intestine cells and the blue shows the nuclei of cells. Notice how by minute 16 the green tight junction walls are almost completely disintegrated. Scary.

GMO Corn

Another example of intestinal damage by GMO’s can be found in genetically modified corn which produces it’s own bacteria called Bt-toxin that kills insects by exploding their stomachs after eating it. For this reason the Bt-toxin is often called the “hole-punching toxin” since it punches holes in the bugs digestive tracts.

However a 2013 study that looked at the effects of Bt insecticidal toxins on humans found that it’s also lethal to human cells. 18 This combined with loads of clinical evidence suggest that GMO corn is probably “punching holes” in our digestive tracts also.

Tumors Anyone?

The second reason why GMOs are dangerous is because of the genetic modification done to GMO plants.

It had been difficult to get the companies responsible for GMO plants to perform unbiased scientific studies on their own GMO products, however a nine week study on rats was performed and concluded that they found no detrimental health effects. France decided to do the same study feeding GMO food to rats, but instead of limiting the study to the extremely short nine weeks they extended it to 9 - 24 months.19 What happened? The rat’s formed enormous tumors about a third the size of their bodies, they had severe liver damage and digestive problems. Several of the rats had to be euthanized because they were is so much pain from the tumors. The results of this study lead France to ask for a Europe-wide ban of GMO corn.

Notice these other issues with GM foods.

Want to Avoid Parkinson’s disease?
GM soy’s higher lignin content could cause risks that lead to Parkinson’s disease. 20 *lignin = organic component of plant cell walls

Have any Food Allergies?
GM soy has up to 7 times higher increased amount of the soy allergen, “trypsin inhibitor” leading to soy allergies. As a likely result of this after GM soy was introduced into the UK, soy allergies skyrocketed by 50%. 21

Robbing your nutrients
GM soy has 2x as much soy-lectin leading to blocked nutrient absorption.

Got Stomach Trouble?

Rats fed GM tomatoes for 28 days found that many developed stomach lesions and over 20% died within 2 weeks. 22

Rats fed GM potatoes developed: 23

  • Potentially pre-cancerous cell growth in the digestive tract
  • Smaller brains, livers and testicles
  • Partial atrophy of the liver
  • Immune system damage

The only human study on GM food found that the modified genes from GM soy actually integrated into the DNA of the patients gut bacteria.24

This could lead to:

  • Your own cells producing antibiotics resistant diseases
  • Increase in viral infections
  • Turn intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories

Mice fed GM soy had: 25

  • Reduced digestive enzymes
  • Altered cell structure
  • Altered gene expression

The top 11 GM crops in the market today are: 26

  1. soy
  2. corn
  3. canola
  4. cotton
  5. sugar (granulated sugar from sugar beets)
  6. potatoes
  7. zucchini
  8. yellow squash
  9. apples
  10. papaya (from Hawaii or China)
  11. alfalfa (used as hay to feed cattle)

So What Do You Do?

Number one you have to avoid these foods like the plague. People say, I avoid GMOs and I’m still not getting better. Most likely your not. People tell my wife and I this all the time and we find GMOs in their cabinets everywhere.
GM foods hide in so many unknown places and they’re in thousands of products! I’ll show you how to find and avoid these foods, and how my wife and I eat out to stay clean from them.

What do you do if you’ve been eating GMOs for years?
I’ll show you what to do about that too! But on to the next toxin.
